What is Therapeutic Horse Riding?

This innovative approach enables many individuals with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities to gain life skills and achieve goals that have not been attainable through traditional therapeutic modalities. Therapeutic riding is based on the beneficial movement of the horse. The three-dimensional, rhythmic motion of the horse stimulates and works the muscles of the rider and the experiential learning that takes place is globalized to the world around them.

Jail To Jobs

Jail To Jobs started as a non profit organization 10 years ago.  In the beginning, Jail to Jobs offered bible studies in juvenile detention facilities.  We saw great success, but despite their desire to change, after their release our youth were being locked right back up again. It was then that we realized the need for social innovation in our program. We needed a better way to support our youth when they were released from jail.

The strategy we found to work is employment-based mentoring.  We work alongside our youth, in our job training programs, teaching and empowering them into success while they are earning a wage.

In Jail to Jobs, our youth gain the experience and skills needed to get and keep a quality job – something many of them did not think was possible because of their past.

“Jail to Jobs provides the encouragement and practical tools that motivate students to re-evaluate their reactive choices and take steps to secure a positive future.”

Judge Edna Staudt, Williamson County Precinct 2

The Strong Kids Campaign is central to the YMCA mission and critical to carrying out our vision of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. By giving, you can help make sure that every boy and girl as well as their family can participate in life-enriching programs through the YMCA – regardless of their ability to pay. Every dollar you contribute makes a meaningful difference in the lives of families we serve and helps us give kids the power of values, so that they can grow up to become productive adults.

One hundred percent of every dollar goes directly to children and families in need based on income, family size and economic circumstance. By pledging your gift and paying it throughout the year, you can assist more children. Contributions may be made by check, American Express, Discover, VISA or MasterCard. Final payment on your pledge need not be made until December 31, and the YMCA’s Financial Development Office can send you monthly or quarterly reminders to fulfill your pledge.

Cypress

Cypress Creek Elementary Paw Partner

Each year before our school year begins, 6-locally owned businesses from our Cypress community sponsor our school. Each business gives a $1,000 donation and will sponsor one grade level for the school year 2019-2020.  We will use the donation to purchase educational subscriptions that teachers have chosen, for each student in the school.  There will be zero cost to the student’s family because of the generosity of our Paw Partners. If you would like to be included in this program next year, please contact our Paw Partner Coordinator at cypress@my-pta.org
